Search Tips
The search engine is built on a literal word match search. If your keyword or keyword phrase isn't in the titles, program descriptions, chapter descriptions, or segment descriptions, you won't likely get results. Here are some hints that may help you find what you are looking for.
There are two ways to search for information:
- Look for a single word.
- Or, look for a phrase.
- Example - type civil war to find the exact phrase civil war. Since the search is not case-sensitive, this is equivalent to Civil War.
- If the phrase or keyword you are seeking doesn't return results, try going at the topic you're seeking from a different angle
- Example - use the names of people or events related to the topic you are seeking. Choose other words that relate to the topic.
Note: Use the options to refine your search to find more specific results. The following options help refine your search:
- Historical Period
- Academic Area
- Grade Range
- Resource Type
Note: Search by using a root keyword such as "invent" to find all programs that contain every form of that word (i.e. invents, inventor, invention).
