Battle of Buena Vista

Battle of Buena Vista

The Battle of Buena Vista (La Angostura) was the climax of a campaign by Santa Anna to destroy Taylor's army in northern Mexico. During the campaign Santa Anna lost half his troops due to desertion, the difficult march and battle casualties. Despite the tremendous loss, Santa Anna was able to rebuild his army to engage General Scott as he advanced from Veracruz. Battle of Buena Vista (1847)
