Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo

Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo served as military commander of California from 1836 - 1842. Pictured here at his ranch house Lachryma Montis (Mountain Tear) near Sonoma, Vallejo had seen the flags of three nations (Spain, Mexico and the United States) fly over California during his lifetime.
