Ulysses S. Grant would go on to lead the U.S. Army in victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War and serve two terms as president of the United States. Shortly before his death, Grant recalled the U.S.-Mexican War as "the most unjust war ever waged by a stronger against a weaker nation." Ulysses S. Grant (1822 - 1885)
